Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Maya, Maya 2009 will be available in October. Notable new features includes: - nParticles (Maya Unlimited)
- Animation Layers
- Updated Render Passes
- Maya Assets
- Improved IPR mental ray rendering
- mental ray 3.7
- Stereoscopic rendering
- Improved multi-threading
- Autodesk Shader SDK
It also brings with it all the tools from Maya 2008 Extension 1 and 2 that has previously only been available to subscription customers, including:
- Maya Muscle
- Soft selection
- Tweak mode
- Symmetrical modeling
- Improved UV tools

Autodesk acquires Realviz |

It was announced today that Autodesk has acquired Realviz. As a result Megafront ceases to sell any and all Realviz products. Stitcher and ImageModeler will now only be sold at http://store.realviz.com (starting May 16). Movimento will only be available directly through Autodesk Consulting. MatchMover, ReTimer, VTour and StoryViz are discountinued products.
Megafront would like to thank all of our Realviz customers who have bought products from us during our years as a Realviz reseller.

3ds Max 2009 has now started shipping to subscription customers and it is available as an upgrade to all 3ds Max 9 and 2008 customers. New features in this release includes: - Reveal rendering technology
- ProMaterials library
- Biped quadraped support
- UV spline mapping, improved Relax and Pelt
- Greater OBJ translation fidelity
- Improved FBX memory management and options
- Better interoperability with MudBox and MotionBuilder
- Lighting enhancements
- .NET support in the SDK
